Best farming practices, cutting-edge processing methods, high standards, centenary know-how, and strict quality controls, are implemented “From Farm to Fork”. Moreover, specific labels indicate organic products and specify their geographical region of origin.

AUTHENTICITY

The EU traditional food and beverage production process has been passed down throughout generations, resulting in an incredible variety of unique products and tastes. They all reflect the diversity of soils, climates and cultures in Europe.

FOOD SAFETY

Applying the highest possible level of food safety is the key factor of EU products. The EU’s approach is rooted in the concept of traceability, accompanied by strict health and food safety rules, throughout the production and supply chain – from monitoring the quality of crops to food hygiene, disease prevention, secure packaging, and more.

SUSTAINABILITY

Greener EU policies promote a food system that is in harmony with the environment. The EU’s “Farm to Fork Strategy”, covers the entire food supply chain, emphasizing animal welfare, food waste reduction, pesticide reduction, efficient energy and water use, carbon farming, and more. Organic farming practices contribute to maintain the sustainability of EU food and beverages.

FARM TO FORK

The “Farm to Fork Strategy” is at the heart of the European Green Deal, aiming to make food systems fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly. It seeks to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system that has a neutral or positive environmental impact, helps to mitigate climate change and adapt to its effects, reverses biodiversity loss, and ensures food security, nutrition, and public health making sure that everyone has access to sufficient, safe, nutritious, and sustainable food.

At the same time, it aims to preserve the affordability of food while generating fairer economic returns, fostering the competitiveness of the EU supply sector, and promoting fair trade. Transitioning food systems towards sustainability also creates new opportunities for operators in the food value chain. The combination of new technologies and scientific discoveries, along with growing public awareness and demand for sustainable food, will benefit all stakeholders.
